We are now seeking an experienced and business-savvy Head of Commercial Contracts to join our Barcelona office and lead our contracts function.
Position Overview
As the Head of Commercial Contracts, you will take ownership of all contract-related activities, from drafting and negotiation to execution and compliance. You will provide strategic leadership, ensure legal and regulatory alignment, and safeguard the company’s interests while supporting commercial growth. This role is ideal for a dynamic professional who thrives in cross-border business environments and has the leadership ability to guide a team and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, partnership deals, service agreements, and client contracts
- Develop and implement best practices, policies, and procedures for contract management
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies across multiple jurisdictions
- Provide expert advice to leadership teams and business units on contract terms, risks, and mitigation strategies
- Train and mentor junior staff in contract law, negotiation techniques, and compliance matters
- Collaborate with finance, procurement, operations, and sales teams to support business objectives
- Monitor contract performance and enforce terms where necessary to safeguard company interests
- Stay updated on evolving laws, industry practices, and market trends to anticipate challenges and opportunities
- Education
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Law, or related field - Master’s degree (LLM or MBA) highly preferred
- Membership in a recognized bar association will be an advantage
Skills
- Strong legal knowledge in contract law, commercial law, and corporate governance
- Exceptional negotiation and drafting skills with attention to detail
- Fluency in English and Spanish (Catalan is an advantage)
- Excellent leadership and team management capabilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide pragmatic solutions
- High organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously
- Strong business acumen with a commercial mindset
Requirements
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in commercial contract management, preferably in an international setting
- Proven track record of handling complex, high-value, and cross-border agreements
- Experience in leading a contracts team or department
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in fast-paced environments
- Willingness to occasionally travel for contract negotiations and client meetings
