PRODUCTION MANAGER – STEEL FABRICATION Full Time

Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Production Manager to lead our steel fabrication operations. In this role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the entire production cycle of transformer tanks, enclosures, radiators, and other structural steel components, ensuring we meet our ambitious production targets and uphold the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and Optimize Production: Plan, coordinate, and control steel fabrication schedules to meet project timelines and quality requirements. You’ll be instrumental in optimizing resource allocation, including manpower, machinery, tools, and raw materials.
• Team Leadership & Development: Supervise and lead a diverse team of fabricators, welders, machine operators, and supervisors, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure strict adherence to our rigorous quality standards throughout the fabrication process for all components.
• Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as output, efficiency, downtime, rework, and material utilization to identify areas for improvement.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise seamlessly with our design, planning, procurement, and quality departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to all safety, health, and environmental regulations, prioritizing the well-being of our team.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and cost control, leveraging principles of Lean or Six Sigma.
• Equipment Management: Oversee the proper maintenance and optimal utilization of all fabrication equipment, including shearing, CNC, plasma cutting, bending machines, and welding equipment.
• Reporting: Prepare and submit comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly production reports to senior management.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in steel fabrication, with a strong preference for candidates from transformer or heavy electrical equipment manufacturing. You should have a proven track record as a Production Manager in this industry.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage production teams and consistently achieve operational targets.
• Technical Expertise: Sound knowledge of various welding standards (MIG, TIG, SAW), fabrication processes, and steel material handling.
• Industry Specifics: Familiarity with transformer tank dimensions, tolerances, and mechanical fitment.
• Core Competencies: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential.
• Software Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office and production planning software (e.g., ERP, ORACLE).
• Certifications (Plus): Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards is a significant plus.
