Position Overview
As a Satellite TV Technician / Installer, you’ll be the face of Virgin in customers’ homes. You will install, maintain, and troubleshoot satellite TV systems to ensure high-quality reception and performance. This role combines technical know-how with customer service skills, making it ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work and direct interaction with people.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and test satellite TV systems, receivers, and associated equipment
- Diagnose and repair signal issues, wiring faults, or equipment malfunctions
- Perform site surveys to determine optimal dish placement and cabling routes
- Ensure installations meet Virgin’s quality standards, safety regulations, and industry guidelines
- Provide customers with clear instructions on system use, features, and troubleshooting tips
- Maintain accurate service reports, installation records, and customer documentation
- Handle tools and equipment safely while working indoors and outdoors, including at heights
- Deliver excellent customer service, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction
- Stay updated on new technologies, upgrades, and Virgin’s latest service offerings
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Vocational training, certification, or apprenticeship in Electronics, Telecommunications, or IT preferred
- Manufacturer or industry-specific training in satellite systems is an advantage
Skills
- Strong knowledge of satellite TV systems, receivers, cabling, and signal troubleshooting
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools, meters, and installation equipment
- Excellent problem-solving and technical troubleshooting abilities
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for customer interaction
- Ability to work independently with strong time management skills
- Physical fitness and stamina to work at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors
- Basic computer literacy for updating service logs and using handheld devices
Requirements
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience as a Satellite TV Technician, Installer, or in a related telecom/IT role
- Valid UK driving license (clean record) required
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends if needed
- Familiarity with UK health, safety, and electrical standards
- Willingness to travel within London and nearby regions for service calls
- Customer-focused attitude with professionalism and reliability
