Role Overview
As a Transport Service Officer, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of transportation services to clients across Dubbo and surrounding regional areas, This position involves driving scheduled routes, assisting with client boarding and disembarking, maintaining transport vehicles, and ensuring that each client’s journey is comfortable and secure.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate agency-provided vehicles (cars, vans, or minibuses) on scheduled routes across Dubbo and nearby regions.
- Assist clients in boarding and exiting vehicles, providing mobility support and assistance with wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility aids.
- Ensure the vehicle is maintained in a clean, safe, and service-ready condition at all times.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, reporting any maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
- Adhere to all applicable road safety regulations and organizational policies.
- Maintain accurate records of trips completed, mileage, client attendance, incidents, and service feedback.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of diverse client populations, including older adults and individuals with disabilities.
- Communicate effectively with clients, carers, and care coordinators to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Follow infection control procedures, particularly when assisting clients who may have health vulnerabilities.
Selection Criteria
Essential
- A current, valid Australian driver’s license (Class C or relevant equivalent).
- A clean driving record with no major infractions.
- Prior experience preferably in community transport, aged care, or disability services.
- Demonstrated ability to assist individuals with limited mobility safely and respectfully.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated empathy when interacting with vulnerable clients.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to adhere to strict time schedules and maintain reliable attendance.
- Current Working with Children Check and/or National Police Check, or willingness to obtain them.
Desirable
- Qualification in First Aid / CPR.
- Relevant transport or community service certifications (e.g., Certificate II in Community Services).
- Knowledge of disability and aged care sector policies and best practices.
Working Conditions
- Regular shifts, with primary hours during business days; some weekend or after-hours work may be required.
- Work primarily conducted in delivery vehicles servicing Dubbo and surrounding regions.
